It’s sturdy, old fashioned, and actually puts lashes in the mounts instead of leaving them empty as some sort of dumb functionless trademark.

It has one flaw, which is using lightweight nylon where it cinche that tends to fray.

I solved this by reinforcing it and using a suede elbow patch. I like it more now.

This is a good thing and I like it.

I haven’t been regularly backpacking for a while, but when I was, I was mostly using an italian milsurp alpine pack like this:

...and/or the little parasite daypack all by itself.

It’s got a plastic frame, but it’s not a full-blown ALICE or anything. Not that it needs extra space - it’s very big.

I’ve got a nice REI full frame pack salted away I bought used, but I haven’t used it myself.

That’s pretty sweet. My only complaint about mine is that it doesn’t have nearly enough attachment points.

Yeah - I like LL Bean bags, have used a large messenger bag for years and it’s held up very well and they really are not very expensive for the quality.
